Welcome to “Footnotes”, the official blog for the Institute for Communication and Information Research (ICIR).
If you’re reading this, you probably either stumbled across our website or saw a social media post from @UACCIScholars about one of the many things we’re doing in the College of Communication and Information Sciences (CCIS) here at The University of Alabama. No matter how you got here, thank you for checking us out. The ICIR is dedicated to highlighting the impactful work that we’re doing in CCIS, and this blog is one of the ways we want to celebrate our faculty, our students, and our breakthroughs.
A Mission to Celebrate Science
That celebration is important to our team. Science deserves to be celebrated. Creativity deserves to be celebrated. The work that our talented faculty and students are doing in communication and information has the power to change our communities and our professions, and that deserves to be celebrated.
Driven by Student Voices
That’s why our inaugural student content team started “Footnotes”. Our team has discovered so many amazing stories about the research and creative activity happening in CCIS, the faculty and peers that are producing the work, and the spaces in our college that allow us to thrive. This blog is their way to highlight those stories, and it’s our way to celebrate our success.
Thank you for celebrating with us, and I hope you enjoy learning about how CCIS is trying to transform our professions and our communities.
