CCIS Research and Creative Centers
CCIS is home to several of the leading centers that are driving the conversation around communication and information in important areas.

Holle Center for Communication Arts
The Holle Center for Communication Arts is an incubator and a creative collaboratory designed to shape the future of 21st-century nonfiction storytelling. The center convenes researchers, practitioners, community partners, and student interns to foster innovative, arts-informed research and narrative projects that are crucial to advancing the notion that everyone has a story to tell and a story worth telling. The center’s work is to tell meaningful stories that reflect the world as it is, and as it can be.

Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations
The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations works to empower and advance the next generation of emerging leaders in the profession through mentorship, programming, education and fostering meaningful connections. Named in honor of Betsy Plank, the First Lady of Public Relations, her legacy and vision continue in the Center’s programs and initiatives to advance the profession and public relations education.

Digital Media Center
The Digital Media Center is a dynamic, hands-on hub for professional media production, experiential learning and public service. Home to Alabama Public Radio, Crimson Tide Productions and WVUA, the DMC brings together faculty, staff, students and industry professionals to produce high-quality content that informs, educates and engages audiences across the state and beyond. Through immersive learning opportunities, real-world newsroom and production experiences, and innovative storytelling across platforms, the DMC prepares students to lead in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape while serving as a vital media resource for the University of Alabama and the broader community.
